Qualifications :

 

Studied a 3 year Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Computer Science at the University of South Africa (UNISA). Completed in 1998.

I joined the Software AG division and went into a 3 month internship training program. Writing exams on a weekly basis for the 3 month duration and achieving an 80% average.

Thereafter, I joined the Open Systems team concentrating on the SAG offerings on all supported open systems platforms (including HP-UX, AIX, Sun Solaris, Openvms, and all Windows Platforms).

Since then, I have gone on to specialize in the Software AG product suite in all open system environments (specializing in Unix) as a senior consultant with the company. I have had extensive experience with shell scripting including writing many Adabas and Natural Administration menu systems for various Unix environments(Created with korne shell for portability).

I currently use the following unix utilities frequently during script writing: sed, awk, grep, egrep, sort, cut, touch, wc, for loops, case and if statements.

I have extensive unix adiministration skills including experience with cron, tar, NFS filesystems, compress, unix kernel parameter tuning, unix printing, rcp, stty, startup and shutdown scripts, ps, top, df, du, ls, env, cp, mv, rm, vi editor, cat, more, pg, user creation, chmod, chown, chgrp, umask, setting of ulimits, batch job execution and prioritizing, ipcs, ipcrm, kill, raw devices and initialization thereof for use with Adabas containers.

I have setup many Linux and Solaris servers, including the installation of the operating systems themselves.

I have had extensive experience with all Adabas utilities and types of configurations.

Career Highlights :

I have done consulting at various Namibian UNIX customers including Nampower and Ministry of Finance.

I have done Survey of Standard Bank’s Factoring system and well as various upgrades to the system, including the installation and configuration of Entire X.

I have done various installations and upgrades and tuning of Natural, Adabas, Natural Security, Natural Construct, Entire Net-Work on Dovetail Business Solutions Sco-Uniware Freightware System.

Flown to Swaziland to do Natural upgrade at Swaziland Electric.

Flown to Cape Town to University of Stellenbosch to consult on performance problems between Openvms Natural environment and Sun Solaris Adabas environment, including installation and tuning of Entire Net-Work

Flown to Cape Town to Audit and tailor Magnum Simplex’s Natural Adabas environment on Sun Solaris.

Trip is planned for the near future to do migration of Air Mauritius Adabas, Natural, Natural Security environment from Windows platform to Sun Solaris.

I have also filled in as a temporary DBA at various large customer sites and streamlined these environments.

Various product presentations and proof of concepts demonstrations.

I frequently lecuture a 5 day course in Adabas Skills and Natural System Administration to the following companies :
